-Meet the Owner-

Caley Edwards has danced since she was four years old. Most of her dance years were spent here in Spokane. She was a company member of Theatre Ballet of Spokane and did many performances including Ballet and Bubbly. She also had the privilege of performing in the local production of the Nutcracker with Alberta Ballet and Memphis Ballet. Caley participated in Musicfest Northwest several years and won the Young Choreography Certificate of Merit in 2011. While continuing to dance in high school she was given the opportunity to be an assistant teacher in three classes for three years at her studio, including substituting as lead teacher for many class levels.  This sparked her interest in being a ballet teacher. In summer of 2012, Caley attended American Ballet Theatre’s Teacher Training in New York City and is certified by ABT to teach levels Pre-Primary through Level III. She has taught and choreographed for six years at several local Spokane studios. She also attended a training session for Dance for PD and is trained to teach Dance for Parkinson’s classes. Caley is currently the lead teacher for Dance for Parkinson’s classes held at Gonzaga University.

After high school, Caley continued dancing at Gonzaga University. While at Gonzaga, she represented their dance program by attending American College Dance Association (ACDA). At ACDA, Caley performed in a piece choreographed by a professor and participated in classes taught by professors from participating universities. Caley also had the opportunity to be a ZagDance instructor. ZagDance is an after school program for kids in the local elementary schools to come and experience dance taught by Gonzaga students. While at Gonzaga she choreographed a piece and taught it to students. The piece was performed in the Student Choreography Concert in 2015. Caley also performed in the Spring Dance Concert while at Gonzaga. She graduated from Gonzaga University’s Dance Program in 2015. After graduating from Gonzaga, she had the opportunity to be the ASL Choreographer for Weaving Our Sisters’ Voices, a Gonzaga theatre production directed by Suzanne Ostersmith. Caley won the Irene Ryan Award, Certificate of Merit for ASL Choreography in Weaving Our Sisters’ Voices. In 2016, she choreographed a modern piece for Gonzaga Students to be performed at ACDA. Caley has also choreographed pieces for a local private school in its production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s, The Gondoliers and William Shakespeare’s, The Tempest.

While in college, she was hired by Phillip Broadbent. She had the honor and privilege of being trained by him to fit pointé shoes. She was an employee for him for five years and learned the art of fitting pointé shoes. She traveled with him to Ballet West and fit dancers there in pointé shoes. She also found the joy of fitting a young dancer in her first pair of ballet flats and then a few years later fitting her in her first pair of pointé shoes and growing with the dancer.

While attending a small business and entrepreneur class at the local Women’s Business Center, Caley’s dream came to fruition as she finalized the plans for opening her own retail dance store. She researched all aspects of the business including customers and suppliers, and location. She also created the idea of mobile services so all customers’ needs could be met regardless of her location. In the summer of 2017, Spokane Dance Boutique was born!

While Caley specializes in one-on-one pointé shoe fittings, she can also fit all styles of dance shoes. She wants to grow with each dancer and meet their needs as their dream of being a dancer unfolds. Caley is incredibly blessed to be the owner of Spokane Dance Boutique, serving dancers dreams, while fulfilling her own.
